Waiting
by Mike Bacon
Wheel chairs and strollers missing their riders
Parents keeping busy pretending it’s actually brighter
There is a game on the flat screen but there is not much clapping
The fish in the fish tank must get tired of all the tapping
The ultimate melting pot with one common thread
There is another page...but its for a child named Fred
The brothers and sisters put on a brave face
But we all know it’s a very long race
Lots of happy volunteers who don't quite understand
But they try very hard to lend a helping hand
You can almost tell the frequent flyers from the rookies
But one thing is the same, our kids are tough cookies
A lot of friends and family to keep the conversation light
Wait, there's the page...let's hope things went alright
(This poem was written by Zach's Dad while they waited for him
to come out of his Chiari Decompression surgery.)
